1:Janmashtami is the celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna. It is celebrated on Ashtami of Krishna Paksha or the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada.
2:Some other names of Janmashtami are Krishna Janmashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, and Sree Jayanti. Lord Krishna, Radha, and Balaram are worshipped on this day.
3:The actual celebration of Janmashtami takes place during the midnight as Sri Krishna is believed to be born on a dark, stormy and windy night to end the rule and violence of his uncle, Kansa.
4:Sri Krishna is considered as one of the most powerful human incarnations of the Lord Vishnu. Krishna was born on 19th July 3228 B.C.E to the clan of Yadava. The sole objective of Sri Krishna's birth was to free the Earth from the evilness of demons. He propagated the theory of bhakti and good karma which are described deeply in the Bhagwat Geeta.
